the gas formed is SO2 (sulphur dioxide) it is acidic....but as it is a gas it will have no effect on the litmus paper as no ions will be dissociated

it will have no effect because litmus paper needs ions to show acidic or basic medium and ions are given out only in aqueos form and it is in gaseous form

gas Aashu to is acidic in nature and acidic behaviour of gas will only show in aqueous medium
