when sulphur powder is burned on spatula it to forms sulphur dioxide and also may forms sulphur trioxide because it react with atmospheric oxides and oxygen present in our surrounding

1. there will be no action on dry litmus paper

2. sulphur dioxide turns moist litmus paper red because it reacts with moisture present in Litmus Paper and when Sulphur Dioxide reacts with water it forms sulphuric acid thus it turns moist litmus paper red.

3. formation of sulphur dioxide when heated in air in the presence of the oxygen,

chemical equation,

S(s) + O2 (g) ——> SO2(g)

sulphur oxygen sulphur dioxide

2SO2(s) + O2 (g) ——> 2SO3(g)

sulphur dioxide oxygen sulphur trioxide.
