Step-by-step explanation:

he spent on transport =20%

spent on breakfast =60/-

spent on lunch =15%

remaining amount=340

rs he spent on transport=20/100×340

=68

rs he spent on lunch=15/100×340

=51

total his pocket money=68+51+60+340

=₹519

Given : Praveen spent 20% of his pocket money on transport and Rs 60 on breakfast. He spent 15% of the remaining money on his lunch and had Rs 340 left.

To find : His pocket money.

Solution :

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process. (our goal is to calculate his pocket money)

Let, his pocket money = Rs. x

Expenditure on transport :

= x × 20%

 = x \times  \frac{20}{100}

 =  Rs.  \:  \: \frac{x}{5}

Expenditure on breakfast = Rs. 60

Total expenditure on transport and breakfast :

 =  \frac{x}{5}  + 60

 = Rs. \:  \:  \frac{x+300}{5}

Remaining money :

 = x -  \frac{x  + 300}{5}

 =  \frac{5x - x - 300}{5}

 =  Rs. \:  \:  \frac{4x - 300}{5}

Expenditure on lunch :

 =  \frac{4x  - 300}{5}  \times 15\%

 =  \frac{4x  - 300}{5}  \times  \frac{15}{100}

 =  Rs. \:  \: \frac{12x  - 900}{100}

Remaining money :

 =  \frac{4x - 300}{5}  -  \frac{12x  -  900}{100}

 =   \frac{80x  -  6000 - 12x  +  900}{100}

= Rs. \frac{68x - 5100}{100}

According to the data mentioned in the question,

 \frac{68x - 5100}{100}  = 340

68x - 5100 = 34000

68x = 34000 + 5100

68x = 39100

x =  \frac{39100}{68}

x = 575

His pocket money = Rs. x = Rs. 575

(This will be considered as the final result.)

Hence, his pocket money was Rs. 575
