It plays la huge role in metabolism and people can't live full lives without their large intestine. There are several diseases that may require removal of the entire large intestine: Ulcerative colitis and Crohn's colitis .It may ham our body due to the incomplete of digestion process.

The purpose of the large intestine is to absorb water and salts from the material that has not been digested as food, and get rid of any waste products left over. By the time food mixed with digestive juices reaches your large intestine, most digestion and absorption has already taken place. So, when the large intestine is removed all these will not be able to continue its processes.
