Hafeez Contractor (born 1950) is an Indian architect.[1] He has designed many skyscrapers in India, primarily in the city of Mumbai.[2] As of 2019, he is the architect of the three tallest buildings in India - The 42 in Kolkata[3][4], and the twin towers of The Imperial in Mumbai.[5][6] He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in January 2016 by the Government of India.[7]

He graduated in Diploma in Architecture in the year 1975, University of Mumbai, then a Bachelor’s degree, Academy of Architecture (Mumbai), did his Master’s in Architecture, Columbia University, NY, on a Tata scholarship. Hafeez Contractor began his architectural practice in 1968 as an intern at his uncle office and later in the year 1983 he established his own architectural company with a staff of two and today his company is one of the largest architectural companies firms in India with around 500 staff. Hafeez Contractor has built a wide variety of buildings, however, gained his major fame and success due to his residential projects. He also is credited with making a couple of buildings with magnificent heights. Hafeez has great concern with regard to the lack of greenery in India and does not believe in western techniques. He was awarded the Padma Bhushan in the year January 2016 by the Indian Government.
