The three government bodies are Legislature, Executive and Judiciary. They perform government duties together, uphold law and order and secure people's welfare. The Constitution guarantees that they operate in coordination and maintain a balance amongst themselves
Executive
- The Executive Branch is headed by the President, who is the state head & directly or by officers that rank below him, he exercises power. He elects a Prime Minister who he thinks will succeed in heading the Lok Sabha, the lower house of the people of India, and represents the larger population. The person chosen is generally the same person who heads the majority party in India. This is one of India's most powerful positions.
- The President shall also select the members of the Council of Ministers and shall provide these members with portfolios dependent on the advice or the opinion of the Prime Minister. During the President's term of office, the Council of Ministers shall remain in power, but the Ministerial Council shall continue to support the Lok Sabha. The Council of Ministers cannot be dismissed as long as they have the support of the majority in the Lok Sabha.
- Legislature
- The branch of the Legislative Assembly comprises the lower house known as Lok Sabha , and the upper chamber, called the Rajya Sabha. The President works closely to implement policies for the Republic of India, to change them and to implement them. In Rajya Sabha, members get elected indirectly whereas in Lok Sabha members are directly elected.
- There are two roles for members of the legislative government: collective and individual. The Prime Minister of India and his Council of Ministers are responsible for any policy mistake within the government according to the collective responsibility. However, each member of the Council of Ministers has more than one delegated portfolio or ministry, in compliance with individual responsibility.
- Judiciary
- The Judicial Branch of India is headed by the Supreme Court, which consists of 21 high tribunals and various district legal, criminal and family tribunals. India 's key civil and criminal rules are enshrined in Parliament 's regulations. Examples include the Indian Code of Civil Procedure, Indian Code of Punishments, and the Code of Criminal Procedure. Each federation and each State government contains its own branches of government, law and justice.
