Carbon compounds are found abundantly in nature and the list of carbon compounds are exhaustive. However, to name two important carbon compounds, they are:

1. Carbon Dioxide – Used in preparation of carbonated/aerated drinks, in fire extinguishers, as a cooling agent (Dry Ice) etc.

2. Methane – It is a carbon compound used as a cheap substitute for conventional fuel like petrol etc.

Molecules of carbon compounds, contain a carbon atom and are generally organic in nature.
