The author and his family was on a sea journey from Plymouth with his family. The climate was obliging and the first part of the journey went off well. However, soon the tides turned and the weather became rough. Their boat wrecked and it was hit by a large wave that almost overturned it.
As things go from bad to worse, the author’s son Jonathan asked his father if they were going to die. Even as the author pondered on a suitable reply for his son’s question, Jon said that he had no fear of death and was prepared to die and had no fear if it meant that the whole family could be united at least that way. Hearing this statement, the author could not but help admire his son’s courageousness.
