The lives and practices of the tribal people have changed to a great extent. For example, the Gaddi tribe of Himachal Pradesh. These people followed the occupation of the shepherd. Moreover, the women of the tribe were also hardworking. They worked as grass cutters and carry them to far-flung regions. The people of this tribe had their own traditional dance. This tribe had suffered more because of numerous forest laws implemented by the Colonial government. The colonial government promoted commercial crops such as cotton, sugar, jute and indigo, (that formed the essential raw material for the industries of England) to take control of deforestation. They were even prevented to graze their animals in the forests and perform shifting cultivation. Accordingly, the people of this tribe had to migrate from their native homeland to the other parts of the nation. After independence, the Indian government made attempts to protect the culture and practices of the tribe by reestablishing their pasture land and eliminating the grazing taxes. Hence, the government has launched several projects for the welfare of the tribe.
