Explanation:

• The Himalayas is a mountain range in Asia and is divided by the Indian peninsular and the Tibetan plateau. The range has many highest peaks of the world including Mount Everest.  

• The Himalayan mountains are divided into the Shivalik or the outer Himalayas, lesser or middle Himalayas, the greater Himalayas, and the trans-Himalayas. The eastern hills form the purvanchal in the northeast.

• The major ranges of the Himalayas are the greater, lesser, and the outer ranges. These are spread throughout the fault line.

• The Himalayas has many peaks such as the Mount Everest peak i.e 8,850 meters, K2 peak which is 8,611 meters in elevation, Kanchenjunga peak i.e 8,586 meters, Lhotse peak i.e 8,516 meters. Kufri, Doodhpathri and Khajjiar lake are some of the hill stations.

• The major rivers that originate from the Himalayas are called as perennial rivers like Indus, Ganga, Yamuna, Brahmaputra and are joined by a large number of tributaries.
