Thus, first three main languages of the Sikkim state are Nepali, Bhotia and Lepcha. Nepali is spoken by the majority of the population and is the lingua franca of Sikkim.Lepcha women in the traditional Dumvum (Source) The traditional attire of Lepcha women involves a sari-like garment known as Dumvum or Dumyam. •CULTURE AND TRADITION
Saga Dawa is one of such auspicious festivals, celebrated by the people who follow Mahayana form of Buddhism. On which, they go to monasteries and offer butter lamps along with the prayers. Later, the colorful procession adorned by the monks chanting holy scriptures, go around the town of Sikkim.
•TRADITIONAL DANCE-Maruni
Nepali folk dance “Maruni” – It is one of the oldest and popular group dance form of the Nepali community, usually performed by three male dancers and the three female dancers. The dancers are usually accompanied by a clown called “Dhatu waray”.

Losar. The Tibetan New Year is perhaps the most enthusiastically celebrated festival of Sikkim. This harvest festival is marked by the Chaam and other traditional dances. People visit the monasteries for rituals before venturing out for celebrations.
