                           Today's Children - Future of India

Good morning everyone present. I feel immensely privileged to have got the opportunity to express my views on ‘Today’s Children - Future of India’.  Before I start expatiating on the topic, I would like to quote lines from the famous poem ‘A Nation’s Strength’ by William Ralph Emerson. The following lines are worth pondering:

“Not gold but only men can make

A people great and strong;

Men who for truth and honor’s sake

Stand fast and suffer long.

Brave men who work while others sleep,

Who dare while others fly...

They build a nation’s pillars deep

And lift them to the sky. “

These lines so beautifully highlight the qualities and virtues required to build a strong nation! We have to prepare our children in a manner as highlighted in the above lines. Undoubtedly, the children of today will become the future of India. So we must train them for the future challenges. Firstly, India is surrounded by hostile countries on all sides, which are jealous of her progress and prosperity. These countries are waging nefarious and clandestine wars against her. They are waiting ready to miss no opportunity to inflict harm on her. Thus readying and enabling our children to face these evil challenges must be our first and foremost responsibility.

Secondly, the world is expecting and looking upon us to play more crucial role in solving national as well as international problems. So we have to train our children in a manner so as to prepare them for this herculean task. We must provide them with the challenging and appropriate environment. We have to prepare them physically, mentally, an emotionally capable for the challenging future. Otherwise they will hold us responsible for failing in our duty towards them!

Thirdly, our rich culture stands for universal spiritual values of freedom, peace, non-violence, and love for all beings, plants, and animals included. We have to instill in our children these values along with the skills to tackle the future.

The parents, teachers, and the government must make the education policies keeping the above mentioned points in mind.
