Humayun - 1530-1540
& 1555-1556 - After being defeated by Sher Shah Suri , he was sent into exile. After Sher Shah Suri’s death, he regained the throne by defeating Sikander Suri.
Akbar - 1556-1605 - Considered ‘the Golden Era of Mughal Empire’, Akbar’s rule was marked by expansion of the empire and spread of art.
Jahangir - 1605-1627 - He was a tolerant and artistic emperor and was said to have handed the reigns of the administration to his wife Nur Jahan.
Shah Jahan - 1627-1658 - Known as the ‘Architect King’, his period is known for architectural masterpieces such as the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Taj Mahal.
Aurangazeb - 1628-1707 - The Mughal Empire expanded the most under Aurangazeb’s rule.
