n-butane can be prepared from 1-butyne by hydrogenation reaction. 1-Butyne is reacted with hydrogen in the presence of Pd/C, it converts into 1-butene. 1-butene is again reacted with hydrogen in the presence of Pd/C, it converts into n-butane.
