Prerna age =p, mother age =m, fathers age =f
3(f-m) =p...... (i)
According to conditions
f=3p
Put the value in (i)
3(3p-m)=p
9p-3m=p
8p-3m
m=8p/3
So mother age =8/3 of Prena age

Answer:

  • 3 (father's age - mother's age) = prerna's age
  • father's age = 3 × Prerna age
  • 3( 3 × prerna's age- mother's age) = Prerna age
  • 9 x prerna's age - 3 x mother's age = Prerna age
  • 8 x prerna's age = 3 x mother age
  • mother's age = 8/3 x prerna's age

so mother ages is the multiple of 8 only 40 is such a number in the given option.
