"Ruskin Bond as a short story writer: A Critical Study" presents a critical analysis of Bond's short stories. He is the only Indian author to figure among the 87 nominees from 33 countries. He occupies an outstanding position among the contemporary Indian English writers. He is not happy to describe the things as they happened. He probes deep into how they happened and why they happened. He examines his characters from the inside and analyses how their minds work. He applies psychological approach in portraying his characters. Regarding human nature his explanations is based on reality because no short stories writer can describe it the way Bond does. His short stories are well structured and integrated works of art. His plots are not well constructed but his characters i.e. they are the short stories of characters.
