Answer:

Present age of a is 4x = 32 years

And, Present age of b is 5x = 40 years

Step-by-step explanation:

Let's assume that, present age of a is 4x

According to the problem, present age of b is 5x

Also, \frac{4x+8}{5x+8} = \frac{5}{6}

=>24x + 48 =  25x + 40

=>25x - 24x = 48 - 40

∴ x = 8

∴ Present age of a is 4x = 32 years

And, Present age of b is 5x = 40 years

Let the present age of A and B are a and b respectively.

a/b= 4/5 ----(1)

8 years from now there age will be a+8 and b+8

a+8/b+8= 5/6 ----(2)

substitute b from (1) in (2)

From (1) b= (5/4)×a

put in (2)

a=32

b=40
