After 8 years, age of Anu = 4x + 8 and age of Raj = 5x + 8

After 8 years, the ratio of their ages is 5 : 6


According to the question,

\dfrac{4x + 8}{5x + 8} = \dfrac{5}{6}

➾ 6(4x + 8) = 5(5x + 8)

➾ 24x + 48 = 25x + 40

➾ 24x - 25x = 40 - 48

\cancel{-}x = \cancel{-}8

➾ x = 8




Present age of Anu ➾ 4x years

➾ 4 × 8

➾ 32 years


Present age of Raj ➾ 5x

➾ 5 × 8

➾ 40 years

So the equation will be like this :

4x + 8 5

After cross multiplying :
6 ( 4x + 8 ) = 5 ( 5x + 8 )
24x + 48 = 25x + 40
48 - 40 = 25x - 24x
