The Stone Age in India was during the Palaeolithic, Mesolithic and Neolithic periods.
Stone Age starting with the Palaeolithic period, is said to have began in 7000 BCE. Excavations of caves found in Cudappah region point to the existence of modern Homo Sapiens in that area. Cleavers and hand axes were found at these sites. The Mesolithic period lasted until 3000 BCE while the Neolithic age was until 1400 BCE.
Archaeological finds of Homo Erectus were found in the mountainous regions of outer Himalayas stretching from the river Indus to Brahmaputra (the Shivalik range).

The Stone Age was a period of time defined by the use of stone tools by human and our hominin ancestors.
We can divide this as the Paleolithic (Old Stone Age), Mesolithic (Middle Stone Age), and Neolithic (New Stone Age).
In each of these period, life in India grew and changed in different ways, setting the stages for advanced civilizations later to come.
The period lasted roughly 3.4 million years and ended between 8700 BCE and 2000 BCE with the advent of metalworking.
It is a three- age system of archaeology, which divides human history technology into three periods.
1. Stone Age
2. Bronze Age
3. Iron Age
The archaeological discoveries in Kenya in 2015 identifying possibly the oldest known evidence of hominin use use of tools to date may have been the earliest tool-users known.
The Mesolithic period lasted till 3000 BCE, while the Neolithic age was until 1400 BCE.
Hope it helps.
