Pressure can be defined as force per unit area. hence pressure is inversely proportional to the surface area.

Explanation:

  • The end of a nail is made very sharp. This is because since the end is very sharp the surface area is very small. As a result of this there is huge amount of pressure that is generated at the end of the nail and as a result of this the nail is made to enter into the wood
  • Incase of the  hydrolytic machine there is a difference in the area which is made which helps in addition of more amount of pressure
