PM is the real and de facto head of the government because it is elected directly by the people. As he is the leader of the majority both in Parliament and Country, therefore PM will be the real executive. In cabinet decisions, his order is final and all decision take place under him/her. He is also the chief adviser of the President and suggest him the selection for the supreme court judges and other important places. He is responsible and chief administrator of countries foreign policies and maintaining diplomatic, economic, strategical and other relations.

The following points state power and functions of the Prime Minister of India

(i) The Prime Minister is free to choose ministers.

He distributes and redistributes work to . the ministers. All ministers work under his leadership.

(ii) Being the Chairman of the Cabinet, the Prime Minister presides over the meetings of the Cabinet. He coordinates the work of different departments. His decisions are final in case disagreement arises between different departments.
