Prithvi Narayan Shah was the first King of Nepal after its unification and the Gorkha kingdom. He acquired his throne at the young age of 20 years.

After he came to the throne, he first wanted to acquire all the places in and around Nepal for its unification into a single country to save it from the British Empire's claws.
However, his first attack on Nuwakot in 1743 CE failed and he had to face terrible defeat as he overestimated his army's actions. He went to Benaras and with the help of his father-in-law, he collected war weapons and returned to the Gorkha land. He started his preparation for re-invading the Nuwakot territory. After a fierce battle, he won Nuwakot. He also started conquering the smaller places around it.
Lamjung attacked the Gorkha land when the soldiers were not present. This infuriated Prithvi Narayan Shah very much and he sent his Gorkha army, which defeated the Lamjung army after a fierce battle.
He later conquered many little places and protected his empire from the Mughals and the British. However, his conquest to conquer Kirtipur resulted in the economic blockade. After attacking them for 3 times, he finally won over Kirtipur.
He conquered many small kingdoms and the valley kingdoms and put them all together to form the Greater Nepal.
