  • To find:- Probability (x²< 2)

  • Total number of outcomes (random numbe x) = 5 (-2,-1,0,1,2)

To find the no. of favorable outcomes , find square of each outcome.

  • (-2)² = 4 ❌(not favorable)
  • (-1)² = 1 ✔️ (favorable)
  • (0)² = 0✔️(favorable)
  • (1)² = 1 ✔️ (favorable)
  • (2)² = 4 ❌(not favorable)

So, no. of favorable outcomes = 3

Probability (x²<2) = \frac{no.of favorable outcomes}{Total no. of outcomes} = \frac{3}{5}

Answer:

To find:- Probability (x²< 2)

Total number of outcomes (random numbe x) = 5 (-2,-1,0,1,2)

To find the no. of favorable outcomes , find square of each outcome.

(-2)² = 4 ❌(not favorable)

(-1)² = 1 ✔️ (favorable)

(0)² = 0✔️(favorable)

(1)² = 1 ✔️ (favorable)

(2)² = 4 ❌(not favorable)

So, no. of favorable outcomes = 3

Probability (x²<2) = \frac{no.of favorable outcomes}{Total no. of outcomes}

Totalno.ofoutcomes

no.offavorableoutcomes

= \frac{3}{5}
