Problem 4:
Two boxes are attached by a light cord of 10 m length that runs over a frictionless pulley. The
mass of the block on the 60° incline is M= 12 kg, and the mass of the block on the 45° incline is
m=3.0 kg. The coefficient of kinetic friction is 0.25 on both sides of the incline.
In the beginning, the large bloc M is maintained at rest at the top of the incline side by side with
the pulley. After release, bloc M will move down and bloc m move up.
- Using the conservation of energy, calculate the velocity of bloc M when it reaches the
lowest point.

3.3 meters per second. a Hand written solution is attached. it is assumed that 10 represents the distance of lower slope slide and hence H is 10. sin 30 = 5 meters
