The President of India is not directly elected by the citizens of the country. He/She is elected directly by the representatives of people (i.e., Members of Parliament –MPs & Members of Legislative Assemblies – MLAs). ... In other words, the Presidentis elected by an electoral college consisting of MPs & MLAs.
