Salt from sea water can be removed by adding washing soda to it. It cannot be removed by heating because sea water contain permanant hardness.

The equation can be given as:

Ca2+(aq) + NaCo3(aq) ----- > CuCo3(s) +

2Na+(aq).

Answer:

The process of purifying sea water into fresh water is called Desalination, which essentially means removing the salt from water.

There are two important methods used for large scale conversion of water.\

Multi stage flash evaporation

reverse osmosis.

In first method sea water is sent through an evaporator under vacuum and water is distilled and distillate water is collected

Second method water is sent through semi permeable membranes under high pressure..![enter image source here]
