X^2 or X2 means ( square of x)

Let x be one integesr and (x+1) the other

*as they are consecutive*

Now , product of these two =  X (x+1)

                                                = X^2 + X

X2 + X = 240

now as 240 is a small no. we can straight away find the factors of it

= 8,2,5,3

(you can simplify it further if u want but we need big consecutive nos. so we won't simplify it further)

Now we have 8x2 and 5x3 which is 15 x16= 240
