PRODUCTS OF DIGESTION ARE ABSORBED FIRST INTO THE VILLI AND FROM HERE IN TO BLOOD VESSELS AND LYMPH VESSELS.THUS AFTER MAXIMUM ABSORPTION OF FOOD IN THE SMALL INTESTINE THE REST PASSES INTO THE LARGE INTESTINE. HERE MOST OF THE WATER PRESENT IS TAKEN UP FROM MATERIAL.THIS MATERIAL IS THEN EXPELLED THROUGH THE ANUS WHICH IS THE LAST PART OF ALIMENTARY CANAL.

Mouth , Oesophagus , Stomach , Liver , Duodenum , Pancreas , Small intestine , Large intestine , Colon , Rectum and Anus forms the digestive system.

Digested Carbohydrates , fats , proteins , roughages and some fibres are digested by small intestine.

Maximum absorption of food take place in small intestine through villi.

Undigested food material passes into large intestine .Most of the water is absorbed here and rest of the material is expelled out from body through anus. Function of large intestine is to absorb extra water and to send out waste material from body.
