Given: Project : Frustum of a cone

To find: a) Search for the meaning of the term "Frustum of a Cone”.

             b) Identify and paste/draw the pictures of at-least 3 objects in and around your house having the shape of frustum of cone.

             c) How is the frustum of a cone different from a Right Circular Cylinder?

Solution:

(a) Frustum of cone: In geometry, a frustum (plural: frusta or frustums) is the portion of a solid (normally a cone or pyramid) that lies between one or two parallel planes cutting it. A right frustum is a parallel truncation of a right pyramid or right cone.

(b) Bucket, mug, container has a shape of frustum.

(c) The difference in frustum of cone and Right Circular Cylinder is:

  1. Frustum of cone has two different circular base and top but cylinder has same circular base and top.
  2. Frustum has slant height and perpendicular height but cylinder only has perpendicular height.
  3. V = (1/3) x π x h x (r1^2 + r2^2 + (r1 x r2)) .......frustum of cone

        V = πr^2h  ............. Right Circular Cylinder

Answer:

            So the answers of all three questions has been given in solution part.
