Earthquake is the sudden shaking of earth crust. It is generally caused due to moving of tectonic plates.When seismic waves are created due to any sudden and huge release of energy in the crust of the earth , an earthquake occurs.the frequency and duration of the earthquake is dependent on the seismic waves.
Effects of earthquakes:
1. Shaking and ground rupture  
2. Landslides and avalanches Fires  
3. Soil liquefaction Tsunami  
4. Floods
5. Human impacts
6. volcanic eruption
Measures to save us:
1.Get under a chair or a desk.
2.Get under a doorway.
3.If you are outside, do not get near water or power lines.
4.Having a meeting spot with your family.
5. If in car then don't move out.
