Biodiversity is the combined diversity or heterogeneity at all the levels of biological organization right from the macromolecules inside the cells to genes, species, ecosystem and biomes.

  • Organisms migrate when the conditions in a particular area become adverse for them. So they migrate to a more habitable place.
  • It is to the habitat loss and fragmentation, which is one of the most important cause for biodiversity loss.
  • Habitats become degraded like:
  • Pesticide linked decline of fish eating birds and falcons.
  • Mortality of ducks, swans and crane due to lead poisoning.
  • Eutrophication.
  • Thus, when a group of organisms migrate from one place to another there is a significant loss in the biodiversity.
  • When a group immigrate from one place to another, there is a rise in the biodiversity.
