Bhakti as a religious and ideological movement believes in devotion and surrender to supreme God. It began in South India in 7th century and came to North India in 9th century and reached to its zenith. It became popular and was widely accepted by people because they were tired of more and complex rituals and practices of Hinduism.The Bhakti saints preached against caste system and communicate their ideas in vernacular languages which resulted in the spread of Bhakti movement.
