Polymerisation reaction of propyne in the presence of Red hot iron tube polymerises to give :- MESITYLENE .

● Explanation -

Three molecules of propyne polymerise to form 1,3,5-trimethyl benzene (mesitylene).

3 C3H4 --> C9H12

This trimerization can take place only in presence of red hot iron tube.
