Nagpur: A group of leading NGOs and individuals working for wildlife conservation have opposed the move to recognize individual forest rights (IFRs) in the core area of Melghat Tiger Reserve (MTR) in Semadoh range.
The district level committee (DLC) headed by district collector is the second topmost body to decide on granting community forest rights (CFRs) and IFRs under the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition of Forest Rights) Act, 2006.
