The Industrial Revolution was a period of time in the early 19th century duringwhich machinery began to replace hand production, water and steam power began to improve, and the factory system became implemented. The Luddites caused a spate ofprotests to spread across the country, some of which became violent.

  • The industrial revolution during the time of the start of 19th century during which the machinery began to change hand production. The very first protest was raised in Nottingham which included raids in textile workshops in 1811 followed by its expansion over the whole of England.
  • Though mostly the machines were targeted by protestors were also set to the factories. It turned out to be gory at various places resulting in the death of many troops and oppositions.
  • The Luddites which involved artisans emerged as a violent force against changes in textiles as they felt that the revolution has left them without work.
