Prototypes may be demonstrated or tested within the team itself or on other departments or on a small group of people outside the team.
The stage of prototyping is basically for investigating the problem solutions generated in the previous stages of designing.
This is an experimental stage, and the main aim is to identify the best possible solution for each of the problems encountered during the first three stages of Designing.
As the solutions are one by one added to the prototype and are looked upon if agreed to, they are added and the design is improved. By the end of this stage of prototyping the design team will have an idea about what the real users will behave or think of the product.
