A way  of testing the nature of a non metallic oxide is to first dissove it in water so its hydroxide is formed. We will perform a litmus test. You have to put a rd litmus strip and a blue litmus strip in the solution. If the blue strip turns red it is acidic. If the red strip turns blue it is basic. You will find that the blue strip turns red and red strip remains the same.
