Explanation:

let us consider a book and two surfaces. one is normal floor the other is soft tiled surface. gently push the book on normal surface,it moves into a certain distance and stops. now push the book on soft tiled surface definitely it moves greater distance from previous distance. so we can conclude that rigid surfaces offer more friction compared soft surfaces.
