cosec=hypotenuse/perpendicular

If one acute angle in a right-angled triangle is 45˚, then by Angle Sum Property the other acute angle will also be 45˚.

Then, the base and perpendicular will be equal.

Let perpendicular=x  and hypotenuse=y

By Pythagoras theorem,

(base)²+(perpendicular)²=(hypotenuse)²

x²+x²=y²

y²=2x²

y=√2x

Then,

coses45˚=y/x

              =√2x/x

              =√2
