Prove root 2 is an irrational number

let  root  2  be  a  rational  number =a/b  where  both  a  and  b  are  integers  and  b not  equal to  zero.

squaring  both  sides,   a  squre =  2  b  squre

both  terms  on  right  hand  side  shoud  be  squre, but  2  is  not

also   root  2  is  non  repeating  and  non  terminating  decimal
