Question:-

  • Prove that 0! = 1

Solution:-

We know that -

n! = n × (n-1) ! ................. Let this equa. [1]

Now let n = 1 & put this value in equa. [1]

Hence,

1! = 1 × (1 - 1)!

1! = 1 × 0!

We also know that 1! = 1

So,

0! = 1 [Proved]

  • What is Factorial?

Definition- The continued product of first n natural number is known as factorial.

Eg:

1! = 1

2! = 2 × 1

3! = 3 × 2 × 1

4! = 4 × 3 × 2 × 1

5! = 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1

6! = 6 × 5 × 4 × 3 × 2 × 1

n! = n × (n-1) × (n-2) × (n-3) ×...... 3×2×1

Answer:

Simple “Proof” Why Zero Factorial is Equal to One

For the equation to be true, we must force the value of zero factorial to equal 1, and no other. Otherwise, 1! ≠1 which is a contradiction. So yes, 0!
