Answer: let us assume that 2-8root8 is rational and rational nos are in p/ q form. so,

2-8 root 3= p/q

or, 2- p/q = 8root3

or, 2q-p/q = 8root3

or, 2q-p/8 = root3

now we know that root 3 is irrational and not p/q form. so it contradicts the statement that it is irrational as it is in p/q form.

so 2-8root3 is irrational
