Q.) Prove 4/√5 is irrational
Proof :-
Let us assume on the contrary that 4/√5 is a rational number
Then it is of the form p/q , where p and q are integers and q =/= 0
So , 4/√5 = p/q
=> 4q/p = √5 [ Cross Multiplication ]
=> 4q/p = √5
Here 4q/p is a rational number where p and q are integers
So , √5 is also a rational number
But it contradicts the fact that √5 is an irrational number
This Contradiction arose because of our wrong assumption that 4/√5 is a rational number .
Hence it is an irrational number .
