 let \: 5 - \sqrt{3}  \: be \: rational \\ so \: 5 -  \sqrt{3 }  = r \: where \: r \: is \: rational \\ so \:   \sqrt{3}  = 5 - r \\ 5 - r \: is \: rational \: so \:  \sqrt{3} is \: also \: rational \\ but \:  \sqrt{3} isnt \: rational \\ so \: 5 -  \sqrt{3} is \: irrational
