Hlw mate!!

E^2 = (mc^2)^2 + p^2c^2

Where ‘p’ is the momentum of the particle. This extra term p^2c^2 comes purely due to motion of the particle. If speed of the particle = 0 , then p=0 and this term goes to zero. This gives us back E = mc^2

Hope it helpful

This shows us that mc^2 energy is not due to motion or Kinetic Energy, it is an intrinsic energy of the particle.
