Prove that if the earth attracts two bodies placed at same distance from the centre of the earth with the same force, then their masses are equal.​

Force of attraction exerted by Earth of mass M on the object of mass m1 =

Gm1M/r^{2} .......(1)

Force of attraction exerted by Earth of mass M on the object of mass m2 =

Gm2M/r^{2}........(2)

Equating the value ,

Gm1M/r^{2} = Gm2M/r^{2}

Equal terms on both sides get cancelled

thus, m1 = m2

Hence, if the earth attracts two bodies placed at same distance from the centre of the earth with the same force, then their masses are equal.​
