Prove that the equation \mathsf{x^{2}(a^{2} \: + \: b^{2}) \: + \: 2x(ac \: + \: bd) \: + \: (c^{2} \: + \: d^{2}) \: = \: 0} has no real roots, if ad ≠ bc.
