according to question

x=acos∅+btan∅

x^2=a^2cos^2∅+b^2tan^2∅+ 2absin∅/cos^2∅

y^=a^2tan^2∅+b^2sec^2ⁿ+2absin∅/cos^2∅

subtracting this,u will get

x^2-y^2=a^2-b^2

hope it helps you
