The Cabinet Mission rejected the Muslim League’s demand for Pakistan. Following are the important reasons:

The formation of Pakistan would not solve the communal minorities problem. Even after the creation of Pakistan, 37.93% non Muslims would still be in the North-West zone of Pakistan and 48.31% would be in the North-East zone.n.

There was no justification for including the non Muslim districts of Bengal, Assam and Punjab within Pakistan.

The armed forces, transportation and the postal and telegraph system would have to be divided between the two new states. This would create problems.

The Princely States would find it difficult to decide which Union to join.

The two halves of the state of Pakistan would be separated by seven hundred miles of Indian territory. This would make communication between the two territories of Pakistan very difficult.
