Pure gold is very soft then how is it used to make ornaments

Pure gold cannot be used for making ornamants as 24 carat gold is very soft. The gold is alloyed with either silver or copper to make it hard. Generally in India 22 carat gold is used for making ornaments. It maeans that 22 parts of purr gold is alloyed with 2 parts of either copper or silver

It is not used to make ornaments due to its softness.So,it is been first mixed with other substances and it then becomes harder.
